The way we communicate is changing fast. Technology, the economy and even ecologies are playing a role. This is challenging the way we use paper. Paper is still the most effective business and marketing tool available, and more often than not people want a hard copy of the information they are working with. Today’s paper is sustainable and recyclable, and as our industry takes a hard look at some challenging issues, DCL Print is leading the way.
Our Forest Steward Council (FSC) and Program for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification (PEFC) provide sustainable solutions for our clients. DCL Print has an ongoing waste reduction program where we take a good look at every process within our business to minimise usage and waste throughout the print and manufacturing process without compromising quality. DCL Print Limited use vegetable based inks as a matter of course.
DCL Print is fully committed to the implementation of this environmental policy and will seek to ensure that the company is compliant where appropriate.
The scope of the company is associated with the provision of products and services related to all forms of business communication, electronic and hard copy which includes elements of Printing, Mailing and Finishing of Business Forms, Direct Mail Products, Security and Financial Printing services.
We recognise that our operations have an effect on the local, regional and global environment and as a consequence of this the Management is committed to the continuous improvements in environmental performance and the prevention of pollution. Environmental laws, regulations and codes of practice will be regarded as setting the minimum standard of environmental performance.
DCL Print will seek to:
• Implement our policies through a coordinated environmental management system
• Use environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources to meet our needs and invest in improving the energy efficiency of products we use and sell and to consider the environmental impact of our products at all stages of their life cycle, including design, manufacture, use and finally disposal
• Address our impact on the environment through the adoption of a sustainable procurement policy and conserve resources through efficient use and careful planning
• Maintain that a primary part of our corporate management strategy is sustainable waste management and as such recognise our responsibilities to minimise waste, especially hazardous waste; and to dispose of all waste through responsible methods, recycling materials wherever possible
• Work with our suppliers to ensure they recognise and reduce the environmental impact of their products and transportation and to coordinate route planning and delivery schedules to reduce fuel consumption and lower exhaust emissions
• Set environmental targets and goals designed to improve our environmental performance and implement our policies through guidance and training to all our staff and conduct regular self-evaluation of our performance in implementing these principles and in complying with all applicable laws and regulations
To this end the Company has established an environmental management system in accordance with the requirements as set out under BS EN ISO 14001: 2004.
FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. It was founded in 1993 in response to public concern about deforestation and demand for a trustworthy wood-labelling scheme. There are national working groups in more than 50 countries including the UK. FSC UK is a registered charity. It is supported by NGOs including WWF, Greenpeace and the Woodland Trust.
The Forest Stewardship Council’s “tick tree” logo is used on product labels to indicate whether products are certified under the FSC system. When you see the FSC logo on a label you can buy timber and other wood products, such as paper, with the confidence that you are not contributing to the destruction of the world’s forests.

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification.
PEFC works throughout the entire forest supply chain to promote good practice in the forest and to ensure that timber and non-timber forest products are produced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards. Thanks to its eco-label, customers and consumers are able to identify products from sustainably managed forests.
Each national forest certification system undergoes rigorous third-party assessment against PEFC's unique Sustainability Benchmarks to ensure consistency with international requirements.

ISO 9001:2008 is the International Standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS).
The standard consists of a set of principles that ensure a common sense approach to the management of your business activities to consistently achieve customer satisfaction.
Checking that the system works is a vital part of ISO 9001:2008. An organization must perform internal audits to check how its quality management system is working.
ISO 14001 was first published in 1996 and specifies the actual requirements for an environmental management system. It applies to those environmental aspects which the organization has control and over which it can be expected to have an influence.
ISO 14001 an Environment Management System (EMS) is a tool for managing the impacts of an organisation's activities on the environment. It is a pro-active approach, and allows business to consider environmental issues before they become a problem. ISO 14001 exists to allow businesses to establish those operations that have a negative impact on the environment and to minimise these as determined necessary.
ISO 27001 is the international best practise for an Information Security Management System (ISMS).
An Information Security Management System (ISMS) is a systematic approach to managing confidential or sensitive corporate information so that it remains secure (which means available, confidential and with its integrity intact). It encompasses people, processes and IT systems.
ISO 27001 is a standard written by the world’s best experts in the field of information security and aims to provide a methodology for the implementation of information security in an organisation. It also enables an organisation to get certified, which means that an independent certification body has confirmed that information security has been implemented in the best possible way in the organisation.
Cheque Printer Accreditation Scheme (CPAS)
CPAS was set up in 1995 with the aim of tackling fraud involving company cheques. The scheme requires that all cheques for use in the clearing process in Great Britain are produced by C&CCC accredited printers. It means there is much greater quality control in the paper, ink, and security features used in cheque production and it has helped reduce some types of cheque fraud, namely fraudulent alteration and counterfeit.
All Accredited Cheque Printers must be certified to C&CCC Audit Standard for Cheque Printers - Standard 55 and are required to print cheques and/or giros according to C&CCC Standard 3.1 - 3.5.

"Safely and securely capturing handwritten text via digital pen is the first step in efficient forms processing using Anoto technology. Processing and utilizing that data throughout your business processes completes the package, and shows the true brilliance of the Anoto system.
Be it text, an illustration or a checkmark in a box, the digital pen automatically captures all handwritten information as you write. In addition to the written data, a time stamp is added to every stroke. Plus, additional signature data is encoded that identifies which pen was used, as well as the exact paper form and page, ensuring the security, accuracy and reliability of all data collected." - From Anoto Website
